WEB-key Plug-in by BIO-key International, Inc.

WEB-key Plug-in is a lightweight browser component that enables secure biometric authentication for WEB-key–enabled websites and web applications. It connects supported BIO-key biometric devices—such as fingerprint readers—to participating sites, allowing users to sign in or perform step-up verification with a quick touch instead of typing passwords.

The plug-in manages device communication and securely exchanges encrypted authentication data with your organization’s WEB-key environment (cloud or on‑premises). Biometric images are not stored in the browser; enrollment templates are encrypted and managed centrally according to organizational policies.

Key benefits:

  • Strong, frictionless login and transaction confirmation for web apps
  • Works with supported BIO-key fingerprint readers and SDKs
  • Helps reduce password resets and account takeover risk
  • Straightforward end-user experience; streamlined enterprise deployment
  • Supports multi-factor and risk-based policies in WEB-key–integrated solutions

Requirements:

  • An active WEB-key deployment
  • A supported BIO-key biometric device (as specified by your administrator)
  • Access to a WEB-key–enabled website or application

For end users: Install the plug-in only if instructed by your organization or a trusted application provider. Administrators should refer to BIO-key documentation for compatibility details and deployment guidance.
